St. Marys Grade School was honored to receive the TARC Children's Services Service & Support Award in recognition for the work and incredible support that is given to our amazing student, Carter Brown. Since Carter started attending SMGS in 2021, he has been surrounded by a Bear Tribe of teachers, paras, staff, and students who have been there to help and teach Carter through gentle instruction and inclusion . This cooperation includes activities like eating, learning, and social activities with Carter's peers. A special recognition was given to Tammy Sue Stallbaumer, Connie Foster, Summer St. Louis, and Cassidi Green, Carters direct contacts at SMGS, for attending the feeding clinic to further educate our staff on the needs of our students who have special feeding requirements. Thank you, TARC, for recognizing the work and commitment that SMGS strives to practice every day for not only students like Carter, but all of our Bear Family.

This past fall Mrs. Carr and Mrs. Brown's kindergarten classes decided to watch the life cycle of a pumpkin, first hand. Once Halloween was finished they allowed and watched the process of decomposition and this spring watched as new pumpkin sprouts emerged from the compost. Here are some pictures of the classes planting their new sprouts. Looking forward to what grows in the fall in the life cycle of a 2022 Halloween pumpkin.

You might notice something new in the SMGS entryway. It's a Bear's Book Den for our students to take/leave/or just borrow a book to read. This great idea was brought to reality by Lily Singhdhillon, a senior at St. Marys High School. Lily is a member of NHS and 4-H and in order to stay in good standing with these notable organizations, they encourage students to complete a project that will serve their community. Fortunately for SMGS, Lily chose our school and students as the recipient of her community service. Thank you Lily Singhdhillon! Your contribution will provide a space for students to feel a sense of community by utilizing a service that promotes both giving and receiving.
